Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (SCAP)

Receive up to $3 Million in Funding Support.

The Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (SCAP) is an effort to strengthen the competitiveness, innovation, and resilience of the agriculture, agri-food and agri-based products industries, the Canadian government, provincial government, and territorial government has signed a new 5-year agreement until 2028 known as the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership.

Please note that the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership has a variety of different programs, each with unique streams, funding rounds, eligibility criteria, and program deadlines. SCAP Federal Funding Program Variants

AgriInnovate

Provides repayable Canadian government funding supporting up to 50% of project expenses to a maximum $10M to commercialize and/or adopt innovative agri-based products, technologies, processes, or services that tackle top industry challenges.

AgriAssurance

Provides up to 50% of project expenses to a maximum $50k in government grants to help implement third-party assurance certification projects that address international market requirements and help expand export opportunities.

Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program (CASPP)

Provides up to $1M in non-repayable government funding for projects that address national or sector-wide priorities that help the agricultural industry mitigate emerging issues and capitalize on opportunities.

AgriDiversity

Provides up to 50% of project costs to a maximum $200k/year (≤5 years) to a maximum $1M in government grants to build agricultural leadership and entrepreneurial capacity among under-represented groups, such as youth, women, persons with disabilities, and the Indigenous.

AgriCompetitiveness

Provides up to 50% of eligible project expenses up to $1M funding per year (max $5M lifetime maximum) to coordinate and build on existing capacity, enhance safety, and adapt to changing commercial and regulatory environments.

Ontario SCAP Programs

Ontario SCAP – Agri-Food Energy Cost Savings Initiative

The Agri-Food Energy Cost Savings Initiative supports competitiveness, profitability, growth, and long-term sustainability.

Ontario SCAP – Meat Processors Capacity Improvement Initiative

Helps eligible meat processors expand their operations to produce more meat at one or more of their locations.

Ontario SCAP – Maple Production Improvement Initiative

This program will provide eligible maple syrup producers access to cost-shared funding to support a range of activities to enhance their operations.

Ontario SCAP – Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP)

This program provides funding support to projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and sequester carbon.

Ontario SCAP – Grow Ontario Market (GOM) Program

The Grow Ontario Market (GOM) program helps agri-food businesses in Ontario export their products to local and global markets.

Ontario SCAP – Biosecurity Enhancement Initiative

This program supports and funds the resiliency of the agriculture and food sector by addressing biosecurity risks.

Ontario SCAP – Growing Future Opportunities Initiative

This program supports Ontario apple, tender fruit, table grape, and grape wine growers.

Alberta SCAP Programs

Alberta SCAP – Value-Added Program

Invests in projects that expand market opportunities, increase company sales, and create jobs to improve Alberta’s value-added food and bioindustry processors.

Alberta SCAP – Efficient Grain Handling Program

Supports grain handling components and equipment that offer significant improvements over standard practices.

Alberta SCAP – Emerging Opportunities Grant Program

Contributes to the Government of Alberta’s strategic objectives to grow and develop Alberta’s value-added agriculture sector.

Alberta SCAP – Farm Technology Program

Encourages farmers to adopt innovative technologies that minimize agricultural waste, maximize farm efficiency, and ensure farm security.

Manitoba SCAP Programs

Manitoba SCAP – Capital Infrastructure and Investments program (CII)

Providing capital investment support to modernization activities is the goal of the Capital Infrastructure and Investments program.

Manitoba SCAP – Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program

The Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program funds carbon sequestration from practices related to agroforestry and grassland management.

Manitoba SCAP – Marketing Development Program

The SCAP Market Development Program helps businesses enhance their export capacity and improve their domestic and international access.

Manitoba SCAP – Sustainable Agriculture Manitoba Program (SAM)

The Sustainable Agriculture Manitoba (SAM) program funds the adoption of beneficial management practices (BMPs).
