As administered by FedDev Ontario, the Canadian Experiences Fund (CEF) provides tourism grants to support growth and diversification projects performed by southern Ontario municipalities, non-profits, and incorporated businesses. CEF funding can be used to offset the costs of tourism event planning, development, and implementation, in addition to the creation/improvement of tourism facilities.
Funding Amount
Up to 100% of expenses to a maximum $1 million, but $500k more likely (municipalities, NFPs), or up to 50-75% to a maximum $100,000 (incorporated businesses). Funding awarded as non-repayable contributions/government grants.
Eligible Applicants
Must operate in southern Ontario, be either a municipality, non-profit organization, or incorporated business, and maintain the managerial, technical, operational and financial capacity to achieve the project’s objectives in a timely manner.
Eligible Activities
Can choose one of three activity areas, including (1) product and service planning, development and implementation, (2) market readiness training, and (3) creating or improving tourism facilities.
Deadline to Apply
Continuous intake of applications until funds are fully allocated. Priority is given to applicants that submit a proposal before May 31, 2019, although applicants may still be considered afterwards. All projects must be complete by December 31, 2019.
