The Aerospace Regional Recovery Initiative (ARRI) program is designed to transition the Canadian aerospace sector out of the COVID-19 pandemic and into a leader on the global stage. The initial focus will be placed on creating well-paying jobs as well as developing cleantech for a sustainable future.

Aerospace Regional Recovery Initiative (ARRI)

Amount of Funding

The Aerospace Regional Recovery Initiative (ARRI) program is providing a up to $10 million per project contribution with a total amount of $250 million in funding to the Aerospace industry. The aim is to pull Canadian businesses in this field out of the trials and tribulations of the COVID-19 Pandemic with capacity to compete on the global stage. Funding will be allocated to small-medium sized businesses, as well as supporting not-for-profit and Indigenous organizations in the following conditions:

  1. SMEs are eligible to receive zero-interest repayable or conditionally repayable loans.
  2. Non-for-profits are eligible for non-repayable grants.
  3. Indigenous applicants may be eligible to receive up to 100% of eligible costs.

Eligible Applicants

Applicant companies must be businesses in the aerospace industry, as well as organizations that support them including:

  • Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
  • Not-for-profit and Indigenous organizations providing services to SMEs

ARRI funding is distributed across Canada via the following RDAs:

*Certain costs may be eligible on a retroactive basis up to 12 months before the receipt of a project application, but no earlier than April 19, 2021.

Eligible Activities

There are three types of projects that qualify as eligible activities for the ARRI funding:

  1. Green operations and adopting environmentally sustainable practices such as commercialization of clean tech products and services and electrification to support a lower carbon footprint.
  2. Improvement of productivity in areas such as manufacturing, artificial intelligence or general improvement.
  3. Strengthening commercialization of aerospace goods and services by establishing a strong presence on the global stage.

Program Deadline

Applicants should prepare well in advance of applications. Funding is available on a continuous basis until March 31, 2024, or until all funding has been committed.
