FedDev Ontario Regional Innovation Ecosystem (RIE)
Receive up to $10,000,000 in Business Growth Funding.
The Regional Innovation Ecosystem (RIE) program funds a wide range of projects that develop industry clusters and consortia, build ecosystem capacity, and support business growth, competitiveness, and innovation. Administered by multiple Canadian Regional Development Agencies (RDA’s), this page focuses on the stream from FedDev Ontario. The program provides new collaboration opportunities between businesses and other innovative organizations for enhanced growth and innovation potential.
Funding Amount
Up to 50% of eligible project expenses to a maximum $10 million in non-repayable contributions (government grants). Minimum ask of $500,000; requires project expenses of at least $1 million.
Eligible Applicants
Southern Ontario-based non-profit organizations such as industry associations or consortia, post-secondary institutions, innovation centres, business accelerators and incubators, angel networks, Indigenous organizations, Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs), and municipalities or other municipal-type organizations.

Growing clusters and consortia; ecosystem capacity building.
Deadline to Apply
Applications are accepted through continuous intake and reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. Projects must be complete by December 31, 2023.
