Client Spotlight: Rimowa Luggage North America
This client spotlight will feature an internationally successful luggage company looking to grow their operations in Canada. Rimowa Luggage reached out to Mentor Works for assistance in securing growth funds in the form of government financing.
After determining what assistance Rimowa was eligible for, Bernadeen and Mentor Works applied for the FedDev Ontario’s Applied Research and Commercialization Initiative. This government initiative allows for Ontario businesses to collaborate with Conestoga College to improve productivity, as well as $50,000 to help fuel this research and development.
“ She provided us her expertise, research, and effective approach and the best program for our needs. We would not have starting solving our strategic challenges with government funding without Bernadeen.”
-Martin Slesjska, Production Manager, Rimowa Luggage
The company was able to increase production to a capacity of 800 cases a day. Martin Slesjska “as a manufacturer, we weren’t going to [receive funding] without [Mentor Works’] help” due to the time it would take. Bernadeen McLeod worked closely with Rimowa throughout the application process to maximize success and satisfaction.
The results:
- Added cost savings to their bottom line of approximately +$100,000
- Showed them where the money was and how many programs were available
- Time savings so they can focus on what they do best – high precision manufacturing and expert craftsmanship
- Gained background knowledge & accurate research on what government funding was relevant to them
