Purpose of the Sustainable New Agri-Food Products (SNAP) Program
The program has been developed to address a need for producers and processors to have additional support in place in order to purchase new equipment with which to create new agri-food products.
SNAP Government Grants Canada: Company Eligibility
In order to be eligible to receive funding a business must apply with a project that creates a new agri-food project or that expands the current capabilities of food production. A sole business can apply or collaborations of up to three businesses. Eligible applicants and collaborators include: corporations or not-for-profit organizations, primary producers, processors, distributors, First Nations, Metis and Inuit who are located in Northern Ontario.
Sustainable New Agri-Food Products Funding for Agri-Food: Details
Funding provided through SNAP program will support up to 80% to a maximum of $5000 per applicant, to a maximum of 3 collaborating applicants or $15,000 towards the purchase of the following types of equipment:
- Food processing equipment;
- Fibre processing equipment;
- High-tunnels or greenhouse structures for season extension;
- Food packaging equipment.
SNAP Small Business Grants: Application
The SNAP program will be accepting applications from April 2014 through to September 1, 2014. Projects must be completed and all expenses incurred by February 1, 2015. Applications are reviewed as they are received and evaluated on a monthly basis. Funding is awarded until it is depleted.
