Ontario Small Business Grants: Wage Subsidies for Hiring Students

The Ontario Ministry of Rural Affairs has announced that it is now accepting applications from eligible employers who plan to create summer jobs for students in Rural Ontario. (Rural is defined as a town, small city or township with a population of 100,000 people or less).   Businesses eligible for this government funding for business will receive a hiring incentive of $2 per hour to create student employment, with a maximum of $1,120 per full time position.

Small Business Grants for Hiring Students Eligibility Requirements

Employers can benefit from the program by hiring one or more students for up to 16 weeks. To qualify, the student must be:
●  Employed sometime during the six month period from April 1 to Sept. 30, 2013
●  Between the ages of 15 and 30
●  Intend to return to school in the fall of 2013.
