OCE-CEMI-NSERC Mining Manufacturing Funding Application Due Dates
As mentioned in June’s blog, the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) and the Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation have partnered with the Mining sector and NSERC to provide $2 million in Canadian Government funding for university- and industry-based transformative research & development projectsin productivity, energy, water and waste related to Ontario’s Mining Industry and its Value Chain. If you are interested in this Canadian government funding program, Expression of Interest applications must be submitted by this Friday, July 27th, 2012. The EOI must articulate the mining challenge and how this exploratory research will solve it.
Mining Grant Funding for Business Overview
The OCE-CEMI-NSERC Mining Program offers small business funding grants allows for cross-sector expertise and the collaboration of new methods. The majority of these business funding grants will be handled through the participating university partners. There is up to $320K of grant contribution available to businesses with a minimum $80K contribution. Research projects should focus on one of the areas below:
- Transformative productivity improvements for the mining and related sectors
- Management of energy for the mining and related sectors
- Management of water for the mining and related sectors
- Waste management for the mining and related sectors
Canadian Government Grants for Mining Eligibility
To be eligible for this research and development funding, at the time of application you must possess a firm offer of an academic appointment at an NSERC-eligible Canadian university. The appointment can be tenured, tenured-track or lifetime professor position, or a term contract position of no less than three years. These small business funding grants can go towards salaries and benefits not paid by public institutions, equipment, materials and supplies, project management and travel.

September 7th: First draft due to NSERC CRD Program
October 5th: Full proposals due to NSERC CRD Program
