One such program is NSERC’s Collaborative Research & Development (CRD) Canadian government grant, which is a longer term opportunity for companies to partner with a university.
How long are NSERC government grants Canada CRD projects?
The CRD project can be from 1 to 5 years long. Usually projects are 2-3 years in length.
How does funding from the CRD Canadian business grants program work?
The funding from the program is jointly contributed by NSERC and the industry partner. The funding is used to cover project related costs.
What types of projects are eligible for funding through NSERC?
Projects that are in the field of natural sciences and engineering are eligible for funding. The project must focus on short to medium term specific goals or be a specific part of a larger longer term project to solve an industry problem.
What types of industry partners are eligible to participate in the NSERC CRD program?
Industry partners must be based in Canada and can be a start-up, an established company, a start-up, an industry association, or a government department.
How much funding is available for each NSERC CRD project?
Projects can be anywhere from under $50,000 to over $200,000. The projects must demonstrate clearly what the costs and timeframe associated with the project, as well as, the capacity of the industry partner to support the project financially.
Are project reports expected?
Project reports are expected for the NSERC CRD program. The number of required reports will vary based on the amount of funding requested and length of the proposed project.
When are NSERC CRD applications accepted?
Applications are accepted and evaluated throughout the year. There isn’t a specific application deadline.
