Northerm Windows and Doors has been awarded over $130,000 in government grants to help enhance its production capabilities at its facility in Whitehorse, Yukon. NRC-IRAP grants will allow Northerm to implement automation technologies and execute lean manufacturing process improvements. As a result, the company will double manufacturing capacity and boost its market competitiveness.
Up to $130,345 in grants will be provided to Northerm Windows and Doors through the National Research Council Canada (NRC)‘s IRAP Mid-Size Projects program. The government grant supports large-scale projects that explore new innovative process improvements and technology development. NRC-IRAP funding will help Northerm offset labour costs and improve the project’s return-on-investment (ROI).
In remote areas across Canada, like the Yukon, manufacturers can face challenges competing with businesses from more developed areas. Accessing NRC-IRAP grants may support competitiveness-enhancing projects that spur innovation and lead to business growth.
