Hain Celestial Expands into Eastern Ontario with Manufacturing Grants
The Hain Celestial Group, Inc. (Hain Celestial) is a leading manufacturer of organic and natural products. Some of its most well-known brands include Yves Veggie Cuisine, JĀSÖN, Casbah, and Celestial Seasonings. The company has two manufacturing locations in Canada, including a processing facility in Delta, British Columbia and another in Mississauga, Ontario.
Like many high-growth companies, Hain Celestial feels strongly about expanding their presence in Ontario. To complement their Mississauga facility, a new 35,000 square foot facility will be constructed in Quinte West, a rural municipality located between Kingston and Peterborough. This facility will help satisfy the growing demand for Hain Celestial-brand products, especially throughout eastern Canada.
To support this expansion, the Government of Ontario will provide up to $1,390,200 in Eastern Ontario Development Fund (EODF) business grants. Ontario government funding programs like EODF help stimulate private sector investments and lead to a more growth-oriented economy. Since 2013, EODF and its sister program the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund (SWODF) have attracted over $2.3 billion in private investments and supported the creation/retention of over 48,000 high-quality jobs.
Hain Celestial Secures Nearly $1.4M in EODF Business Grants
The Hain Celestial Group, Inc. is a New-York-based marketer, manufacturer and seller of organic and natural products. It continues to enjoy year-over-year growth and now has operations in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. It also continues acquiring companies, and now maintains over 25 unique food and personal care brands.
Growing customer demand has led the company establishing its third manufacturing facility north of the border. Serving as a supplier to eastern Ontario and eastern Canada, Hain Celestial’s new Quinte West manufacturing facility will increase production and sustain growing client base.
To support this investment, the Government of Ontario has awarded $1,390,200 in Eastern Ontario Development Fund (EODF) grants.
The new facility will be 35,000 square feet and is expected to be operational by June 2020. It will contain new state-of-the-art blending, cooking, and packaging technologies which can be used to create many of its products. Hain Celestial expects that this facility will support the creation of 26 new jobs.
About the Eastern Ontario Development Fund
The Eastern Ontario Development Fund is a government initiative that provides funding for business expansion. Companies establishing large-scale expansion projects, such as the construction of new facilities, can access these funds to help offset a portion of project costs.
Businesses may receive up to 10-15% of project expenses to a maximum $1.5M in government grants, or up to $5M in a combination of grants and repayable funding.
To develop a competitive EODF funding application, applicants must be incorporated for at least 3 years, have 10 or more full-time employees, and invest in eastern Ontario. Projects must create at least 10 new full-time positions.
Expand Manufacturing Capacity with Canadian Government Funding
