First Job Grant Provides Businesses $40K Towards Hiring a Tech Grad
The technology sector is advancing at blazing speeds. It is becoming increasingly difficult to stay competitive with the increasing amount of innovations, especially for small businesses. Ontario businesses are being offered an opportunity to shave off some human resource expenses with the Ontario Centres of Excellence’s First Job program. Similar programs with funding available include the Graduate Enterprise Internship, ICTC Career Focus, and Youth Employment Program.
Who is it for?
First Job is for Ontario research or technology companies that can provide stable employment for internship placements to graduates with science and technology degrees. The business must prove that they will be able to utilize the graduate’s skills and knowledge in a relevant position to commercialize a new technology. The position must also consist of a mentor element, where the graduate’s skills and experience can be further developed, as well as offer a significant research component to the position.
What does it offer?
Ontario Centres of Excellence will cover up to 50% of the graduate’s salary, to a maximum of $40,000.
