Canadian Business Grants for Hiring: Connect Canada Internships
AUTO21, a Canadian not-for-profit organization, administers funding for a Canada-wide internship program called Connect Canada. The Connect Canada internship program is focused on providing opportunities to foster collaborative relationships between industry and academic partners to facilitate new R&D activities across Canada.
Canadian Small Business Grants through Connect Canada: Purpose
Small Business Grants for Internship opportunities from this program are targeted at graduate and post-graduate students who are attending or working at Canadian universities. Connect Canada Internships are short term opportunities from four to six months. The students are funded for the project up to a maximum of $10,000 – $5000 from the industry partner and $5000 of government funding. Interns will spend at least 50% of their time working at the location of the industry partner. The remaining time is spent at the academic institution.
Connect Canada Business Grants: Employer Eligibility
Industry partners must be located in Canada, for profit and incorporated. The companies can be from any industry and acquire an intern in any field of studies, so long as the research work is relevant to the student’s academic background. The industry partner must have a research problem for the student to solve that can be accomplished in the short term time frame of the Connect Canada internship program.
Canada Small Business Grants Application Process
Applications to this government funding program are accepted throughout the year. There is a relatively short turnaround time for applications to this program of six weeks. The industry partner is expected to provide the full contribution of $5000 when approval is given. The project can begin one approval is received and the funding has been provided.
