Canada & Europe Reach Organic Standards Equivalency, Promote Organic Trade
When it comes to natural resources and agricultural potential, Canada is undeniably one of the wealthiest countries in the world. In an effort to promote organic trade and international growth, Canada has actively pursued organic standards equivalency internationally. Back in June 2009, Canada reached an agreement with the United States on what products were to be considered certified organic. This agreement allowed the two countries to trade organic products freely, with no confusion on the product’s organic certification.
Canada has once again advanced the international organic trade economy by reaching organic standards equivalency with the European Union. This allows Canadian organic producers to export to Europe with confidence in a stable market price.
