Call for Proposals: Business Funding Grants to Enhance Accessibility
The Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF) offers small business funding grants for community-based projects throughout all of Canada. These projects must improve accessibility, remove barriers, and allow Canadians with disabilities to participate in and contribute to their communities.
Government Funding for Small Business Details
This Canadian grant funding for business program offers up to $50,000 in grants. Eligible projects to receive this Canadian government funding must improve the environment through renovation, construction and retrofitting of buildings, modification of vehicles for community use, or through the provision of accessible information and communication technologies. The following are eligible groups that can apply for this grant funding for business:
- Small municipalities with a population less than 250,000
- Colleges and universities
- Territorial and aboriginal government
- Small private-sector organizations with less than 50 employees and under $5 million in gross revenue
- Not-for-profit organizations
Canadian Government Grants Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the business funding grants, proposed projects might include:
- Installing an elevator or lift
- Constructing interior or exterior ramp
- Installing wider doors or automated door openers
- Improving lighting and increasing colour contrast
- Raising or lowering sinks and counters
- Building accessible washroom
- Providing computer enhancements
- Installing accessible door handles and light switches
- Installing wheelchair lift to community-based vehicle
Unacceptable activities include:
- Renovation, construction or retrofit of private homes
- Provision of accessible information
- Communication technologies for private use
- Retrofit and modification of private vehicles
- Renovation, construction or retrofit of activities that do not contribute to creating or enhancing accessibility for people with disabilities
