SGAP: Up to $100K Funding for Sustainable Growth in Agri-Tech  

FedDev Ontario is excited to introduce the Sustainable Growth and Adoption Program (SGAP) this fall through Bioenterprise, aimed at advancing sustainability across the food and agri-tech value chain. This new initiative is designed to help businesses adopt clean technologies and integrate sustainable practices into their operations, fostering a greener and more sustainable future. 

Program Focus: Sustainability Across the Value Chain 

The SGAP is tailored to support later-stage food and agri-tech businesses with non-repayable funding. The program’s main goal is to promote clean growth and modernization through the adoption of new technologies and sustainable practicesto achieve greater sustainability. 

Funding Snapshot: Bioenterprise – Sustainable Growth and Adoption Program (SGAP) 

Funding Amount 

  • Non-repayable contributions ranging from $40,000 to $100,000. 
  • Applications must secure 60% of the project costs, with a maximum total of $150,000. 

Eligible Applicants 

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be incorporated and located in Southern Ontario;
  • Have a minimum revenue of $200,000. 
  • Be operating within the Food and Agri-Tech sectors. 
  • For-profit private sector enterprises or not-for-profits (NFPs) must be: 
    • Adopting proven clean technologies from an Eligible Sustainability Project Partner, and/or 
    • Engaging an Eligible Sustainability Project Partner for sustainability enhancement projects. 

Sustainability Partner Criteria

  • Must be a for-profit private sector enterprise or NFP;
  • Must be providing a proven clean technology or consultation service aimed at reducing the applicant’s carbon footprint and supporting their transition to net-zero; and
  • Must be offering a Statement of Work. 

Eligible Activities 

  • Integrating proven clean technologies into business operations. 
  • Implementing sustainability enhancement activities, including assessing potential modifications to current practices. 

Program Timeline 

  • Application Intake: September 11, 2024. 
  • Application Deadline: October 30, 2024.
