FedDev Ontario has acquired new funding for its thriving Applied Research and Commercialization Initiative (ARC). The Applied Research and Commercialization program are currently accepting applications from any campus faculty partnered with any Southern Ontario small- or medium-sized enterprises interested in gaining Canadian government funding to provide innovative products and processes to the market, or improve Ontarios competitiveness through three main sectors:
- Information and Technology
- Manufacturing
- Energy and Environment
Eligibility for this Ontario Government Funding for Research and Development
The Applied Research and Commercialization (ARC) program will continue to build applied research capacities at Ontarios research-ready colleges and universities and expose students to practical problems that local industries face. This initiative brings together the business and academic communities in collaborative relationships in order to engage in applied research and commercialization activities to develop new products, processes and practices. Please note that each SME can only submit one application with one post-secondary institution. Successful applicants that received government funding in the previous year are ineligible for another year.
Eligible costs include:
- Travel and meeting costs
- Consulting and professional fees
- Labour and operating expenditures
- Materials and supplies
- Minor and non-capital acquisitions
Gaining from ARCs Ontario Government Grants
Chosen projects have the opportunity to obtain $750K in government funds with a minimum small- and medium- sized enterprises match of 50% of the total project costs required which means they can support 15 projects. Be sure to check application deadlines at the appropriate school website and all projects or associated spending must be completed by March 31, 2013.
