ACT Program: Boosting Sustainable Innovation in Canadian Agriculture

The Canadian government is taking significant strides to foster a sustainable, low-carbon economy in the agriculture and agri-food sector through the Agricultural Clean Technology (ACT) Program. This initiative is part of a broader effort to create an environment where clean technology can thrive, driving the necessary changes to achieve a more sustainable future.

The ACT Program’s Research and Innovation Stream specifically focuses on supporting pre-market innovation. This includes research, development, demonstration, and commercialization activities aimed at developing transformative clean technologies. The program prioritizes three key areas:

  1. Green Energy and Energy Efficiency: Innovations that enhance energy efficiency and promote the adoption of renewable energy sources.
  2. Precision Agriculture: Technologies that optimize agricultural practices through precise inputs, reducing waste and improving productivity.
  3. Bioeconomy: Development of sustainable products and processes derived from biological resources, contributing to a circular economy.
