May 3 – CTMA’s How to Capitalize on the Booming Automotive Industry
(London, ON) – The Canadian Tooling and Machining Association (CTMA) is a non-profit association that advocates on behalf of the Canadian tooling and machining industry.
On May 3, CTMA will co-host the How to Capitalize on the Booming Automotive Industry breakfast seminar with Mentor Works Ltd. and Harbour Results. Keynote speakers will present trends impacting Ontario’s automotive industry and ways to improve business financial strategies. Mentor Works’ President and Owner, Bernadeen McLeod, will be in attendance and discuss government funding programs that support R&D and capital investment projects.
May 15 & 16 – OCE Discovery Event
(Toronto, ON) – The Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) supports collaborative research between industry and academia. This drives the development of Ontario’s economy by helping to commercialize innovation originating in the province’s publicly funded colleges, universities and research hospitals
On May 15 and 16, OCE will host its two-day Discovery Conference supporting the commercialization of innovative technologies and products. This networking event provides an opportunity for business owners, industry experts, students, and industry organizations to exchange knowledge and advice.

May 9 – Training Grants for Workforce Development
(Webinar) – On May 9, employers can learn how improve their workforce’s skillsets by leveraging funding for third-party training programs. In Ontario, employers can access training grants every 6 months. These investments provide trainees with the ability to perform new tasks and become more employable.
Discover how training grants can provide up to 66% of eligible third-party training expenses to a maximum $10,000 per trainee.
By leveraging government funding for workforce development, employers can offset the costs of training programs such as:
- Management and Organizational Leadership;
- ISO Quality Management Systems;
- Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP);
- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma; and/or
- Customer Service.
May 18 – Export Support Services & Funding
(Webinar) – On May 18, Mentor Works and Export Development Canada (EDC) will co-host a workshop regarding export support services and way to reduce export activity costs. Attendees will learn how to leverage export grants and financial services to offset international expansion costs, such as product certification, testing, and capital equipment.
During this session, keynote speakers will discuss:
- How to become exporters through strategic business expansion projects;
- How to mitigate risks when entering new export markets; and
- What government funding programs are available to reduce the costs of trade show participation, performing market research, and increasing production capacity.
May 23 – Green Technology Grants for Business
(Webinar) – On May 23, join the Green Technology Grants for Business webinar to gain insight into cleantech funding programs that help businesses develop or commercialize new technologies. Ontario manufacturers will be introduced to government funding programs that help companies reduce their carbon footprint, improve energy efficiency, and address GHG emissions.
During this webinar, Mentor Works will discuss the CME SMART Green Fund; the program provides up to 50% coverage of eligible expenses to a maximum $200,000 per facility.
Attendees will learn how Ontario government funding can be used to offset costs associated with:
- Adopting new energy efficient technologies;
- Training new and existing employees on energy efficient processes; and
- Assessing energy efficient equipment and processes.
