RIC VentureStart Grant Funding Program for Startups
VentureStart is a program designed for entrepreneurs that are prepared to launch a new venture and are located in Southern Ontario. The business funding grants program is offered by MaRS, one of the Ontario Regional Innovation Centres (RIC) and has been designed to increase the success rate of start-up ventures. This is accomplished by business launch mentoring, skills and training and up to $30,000 in Canadian government grants for startups.
Grant Funding for Business Overview & Eligibility
The VentureStart program offers business development mentoring to eligible participants that have graduated from a university or college program related to a STEM field of study. They must also reside in Southern Ontario and plan to start their venture within the region.
These government grants for business offer business development training to fund innovative entrepreneurs through a two-stage process:
- Business Skills Development: Eligible applicants will participate in a business skills development course to train and evaluate their skills as an entrepreneur. They will also complete a critical factor assessment to determine the viability of their concept.
- Business Launch Support: Once the Business Skills Development training has been completed, the applicant may receive up to $30,000 in business funding grants for startup costs on a cost-matching basis. These grants can go towards prototype development, market research, financial and legal services and IP copyrighting.
