MaRS, one of Toronto’s most reputable Regional Innovation Centres (RIC), is hosting a new event series called the Future of Medicine. The event is intended for businesses and researchers in the med-tech and life science sectors that are interested in learning about industry best practices related to medical device and drug development.

The first part of the series features a 101 session where speakers Justin Canviet and Douglas Loe will be speaking about life sciences companies that are on the current public market. The event will discuss factors related to the value your company, what investors look for in successful companies, discussing the critical pathways for life sciences companies going public and an overview of the Canadian Market. The second event will feature a selection of guest speakers addressing the procurement challenges related to the life sciences sector and how to businesses can successfully implement a health IT solution.

Canadian Business Funding Grants for Life Science & MedTech Organizations
Canadian businesses that deal with research and development of life science technologies may also be interested in the following of the list of Canadian Government Funding grants:
- New Horizons for MedTech (NHM): This program is funded through collaboration between MEDEC and FedDev Ontario, designed to provide business funding grants to support of the expansion of Canada’s Advanced Health Technology and Medical Device sector.
- Graduate Enterprise Internship GEI/iSTEM: The Graduate Enterprise Internship is a program offered by FedDev Ontario. The program provides grant funding for business to hire one or multiple graduates for a 6 month internship.
