Business Grants in Ontario: Ontario Aerospace R&TD Challenge Fund

The Ontario Aerospace R&TD Challenge Fund is a program that supports technology that is strategically important to the Ontario aerospace sector. This Ontario business grants for research and development is supported by the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE), along with the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation (OMRI), the Ontario Aerospace Council (OAC) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) via $2.5 million in financial resources.
Ontario Government Grants for Aerospace -Focus
Government grants for small businesses offered through this program aim to increase productivity with significant economic benefits such as added jobs an increase in revenues, etc. OCE, in partnership with industry and NSERC will support five qualified projects, each of which may last up to 2 years.
Ontario Small Business Grants –Company Eligibility
In order to qualify for small business grants Ontario eligible companies must undertake a project that will address one or more of the following focus areas:
- Advanced and Engineered Materials
- Advanced Manufacturing
- Autonomous Systems
- Electric Power
- Ergonomics
- Simulation Methods and Tools

Small Business Grants Ontario –Funding Amount
OCE Ontario grants for small business through this program provide up to $100,000. Businesses applying for this program must first secure a minimum of a 2:1 cash plus in-kind matching from the industry. For example: if OCE contributes $100,000 per project, the minimum amount contributed in cash must be $100,000, plus $100,000 in-kind from industry.
