Receive up to $100,000 in BioSecurity Funding.
The CAP – Poultry Biosecurity Preparedness Initiative (PBPI) supports poultry and waterfowl farmers that are non-supply-managed to implement projects to improve the biosecurity of their operations and reduce the risk of disease spread.

Amount of Funding
Successful applicants may receive up to 70% of eligible expenses to a maximum $100,000 per location and a maximum of $500,000 per business.

Eligible Applicants
Applicants are part of Ontario’s non-supply managed poultry value chain and are defined as follows:
- A producer – raises, owns, or houses non-supply managed poultry with a minimum 300-bird flock under a valid Farm Business number;
- A processor – involved directly in the slaughter of non-supply managed poultry; and
- An agri-business – involved in servicing non-supply managed poultry and is operating as a veterinary clinic, grading station or hatchery (including balut).

Eligible Activities
Expenses incurred between April 1st, 2022 to February 17th, 2023 in the following categories:
- Education, training, assessment and planning from a third-party institution on topics related to national biosecurity standards;
- Defining zones and controlled access points (CAPs);
- Establishing cleaning and disinfecting practices;
- Establishing isolation or segregation facilities;
- Preventing access by wildlife, pests and rodents;
- Health management;
- Establishing facilities to manage deadstock; or
- Euthanasia equipment.
